So some cool stuff has been happening lately, or has been scheduled to happen. Let's discuss.
I went to a roller derby bout in Asbury Park. After seeing Whip It! last year, my friends and I have become mildly obsessed with the sport. (Probably Caitlin more so than me and Julie; she bought skates, she wins.) We all bought the DVD, we've gone rollerskating multiple times, and we've attended multiple bouts of the Jersey Shore Girls Roller Derby League.

These ladies are crazy skilled. And can really take a hit.

Even the refs have awesome derby names.
The games are great because they score lots of points per jam, and beat up each other. (Not on purpose of course.) Figuring out the rules can be tricky, but once you know what's going on, it is intense! At the last game we were at a girl fell down, and another girl tried to jump over her, but didn't jump quite high enough. OUCH. You can imagine the pile up. Roller derby's the best.
I also recently went to a concert in Hoboken to see Jenny Owen Youngs, who I totally fangirled all over after her set. I awkwardly caught her in line for the bathroom (I blame Maxwell's, the venue, for having such precariously located bathrooms, in the space between the dining area/bar and concert space.) and we high-fived (TWICE!) and "hugged it out." Girl crush cemented! FOREVER! You should listen to her. Here's all the proof you need of her awesomeness and great hair.
The gym. I'm going. With frequency. And feeling ... smaller, even if the scale doesn't say so.
AND FINALLY, the big reveal, I'M GOING TO IRELAND. YES! Joe and I booked our big summer vacation - a week long trip to Dublin! We found a pretty cheap hotel in a great area south of the river and near Trinity College. It's within walking distance of the Temple Bar area (PUBS!) and close to the Guinness Factory (TOURS 'N' PINTS!). As you can see, I'm kind of an expert on Dublin. (Don't worry, I rolled my eyes for you.) But yeah, I haven't really ever left the county before (I went on a cruise once to Jamaica but, meh. That was like a pit stop on the Ocean Freeway.) so I'm super excited, especially to take photographs.
So yes. FUN ABOUNDS.
